INDIGO 11 Artists
An Exhibition of Indigo Art at Engakuji Temple, Kita-Kamakura
From November 1 to 3, 2026, eleven artists will come together for INDIGO 11 Artists, a group exhibition held at Butsunichian, Engakuji Temple in Kita-Kamakura.
Indigo has long been an essential part of Japanese culture, deeply woven into everyday life.
Passed down through generations, this traditional craft continues to evolve, inspiring new forms of artistic expression.
This exhibition brings together eleven artists, each exploring indigo through their own perspectives, techniques, and creative practices.
Tradition, innovation, and new possibilities for indigo.
On Japan’s Culture Day, we present contemporary expressions of this enduring cultural heritage in a place where centuries of history and tradition remain alive.
We invite you to discover eleven distinct interpretations of indigo within the historic setting of Engakuji Temple.
